The Advantages of a Maxillofacial Surgeon

Maxillofacial treatment addresses the intricate structures of the oral cavity, face, neck, mouth, and jaws. Maxillofacial surgery is typically more complex than more common dental procedures, like removing erupted wisdom teeth or getting a filling.

While all dentists can provide basic dental services, maxillofacial surgeons like Dr. Newey have the tools and experience to deal with complex oral issues. A patient who has facial trauma after a car accident may require multiple surgeries like bone grafting and dental implant placement. Most dentists are either unable to provide these procedures, or have not devoted the same amount of study and training to them as a maxillofacial specialist. Receiving maxillofacial surgery from a surgeon with a long history of successful procedures is the best choice for success.

Take a Tour Of Our Clearfield Office

Our office aims to strike the ideal balance between comfort and modernity. Our waiting area is decorated with plush seating and welcoming wood finishes, but just behind the door of our treatment area, you'll find some of the most advanced technology available in dentistry today.

Featured Services  At Our Clearfield Surgical Center

Wisdom Tooth Removal

Without surgery, an impacted wisdom tooth can cause continuous pain and shift your other teeth out of alignment. Dr. Newey can safely remove your wisdom teeth before or after they become impacted, keeping your oral health in good shape.

Dental Implants

Missing even one tooth can cause your jawbone to lose density and your other teeth to shift. Traditional prosthetics like crowns and bridges are great for filling gaps in your smile but leave your bone tissue vulnerable to atrophy. Dental implants stimulate tissue in your jawbone, strengthening your oral health. Whether you are missing one tooth or a whole arch, Dr. Newey can strengthen your smile with restorations anchored by implants.

Bone Grafting

If you've been missing teeth for a substantial amount of time, it's likely that your jawbone has shrunken and is in a weakened state. A bone grafting procedure can replace the lost tissue and restore your candidacy for dental implants. As a maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Newey has specific training and experience addressing the complex structures of the jaw and face.

TMJ Disorder

The temporomandibular joint can function improperly, potentially causing pain in your jaw that radiates through your neck and shoulder. When treatment options like a custom mouthguard or BOTOX® are not enough, Dr. Newey can perform corrective surgery to relieve pain.

Anesthesia

Undergoing oral surgery can cause anxiety for some patients. As a member of the American Society of Dental Anesthesiologists, Dr. Newey is up-to-date with the latest safety protocols and techniques for anesthesia. When it comes to your safety and comfort, Dr. Newey will go beyond what is expected to ensure that your procedure is a success.
